 Il Filo dei Messaggi - A metà tra la scrittura e l’arte visiva, il lavoro della artista Americana Leslie Hirst sfida in maniera sottile il modo in cui siamo abituati a leggere i segni del linguaggio. A seguito di una visita a Burano nel 2005, la Hirst fu spinta a creare delle composizioni che fondessero parole e merletti. Il linguaggio visivo della Hirst è costruito con frammenti, scarti di immagini e forme casuali ricavate dal suo vasto archivio personale fatto di lettere scritte a mano e fotografie di graffiti.Queste risorse rappresentano un legame profondissimo con l’arte del merletto poiché esse raffigurano lo scorrere del tempo attraverso il movimento lungo una linea ininterrotta.

Message Threads - Situatuated between writing and picture-making, the work of US artist Leslie Hirst subtly challenges the ways that we read marks as language. Following her first visit to Burano in 2005, Hirst was inspired to create compositions that fuse words with lace designs. Hirst's visual language is built from fragments, discarded shapes, and accidental forms excavated from her vast personal archive of antique handwritten letters and photographs of graffiti. These resources represent a vital link to lace-making since they depict a process of time through movement along a continuous line.
